RC Dragon Force 65 Take Flight

24 Mar 2017 by Locky Pryor

Last Wednesday the 15th March RSYS had its first RC Yachting Regatta on what turned out to be a beautiful Wednesday evening.  With the days earlier weather turning away a few of the sailors, we still managed to get 10 boats out for 4 races.

The course was set in the pond with a tricky South East wind that was flicking east at stages making the racing shifty and keeping both the Race Committee and sailors on their toes. The 2 Burgess brothers jumped out early and showed their speed and skill taking an early lead in Race 1 with Phil going onto taking the win from Locky Pryor and Kel Burgess.

With the wind shifting around, the next few races saw everyone have a go at the top end, with Stuart Thorpe improving each race to take a 2nd place in the last race of the day and John Hopkins showing some pace with a couple of thirds to finish off the regatta.

The next race day is on the 29th March with a number of new sailors already out training with their boats, finished and ready to rumble. Rumour has it that the head of the sailing office has been out training and will be out to take his chances after being away the first week. A few of the young sailors form the Elliott and Laser program are also keen to put their money where their mouth is and jump in.
